Buckhurst Hill Residents' Society has been in existence for more than 40 years. The Society lobbies on behalf of the people of Buckhurst Hill to ensure that the town retains its character and remains an attractive and pleasant place in which to live. It responds quickly to local issues and when necessary organises public meetings to keep its members informed about important issues.
Buckhurst Hill has a population of just over 10,000 residents. It is on the borders of Epping Forest and North East London. The Residents’ Society was formed in 1963 when residents banded together to fight proposals to radically alter the character of Queens Road, its town centre. Since then the Society has gone from strength to strength.
The Society has had representatives on the Buckhurst Hill Parish Council, the Corporation of London’s Forum for Epping Forest, The Essex Police Liaison Group and Consultative Committee, Epping Forest Patient and Public Involvement Forum, The Primary Healthcare Trust, Buckhurst Hill Community Association, Friends of Linder’s Field Nature Reserve to name but a few. Additionally the Society holds social events, outings to places of interest and donates to local charitable causes.
